Privacy
Short, because there is not much to say.
This website collects personal information in three places: the repair estimate form, your account for tracking a repair, and the roadside help page for drivers stopped on the road. Everything else is static pages. Our own server counts page visits: each visit adds one to a count for that day and for the link's campaign tag (for example the button on our Google Maps listing). No IP address, no cookie and nothing that identifies you is stored. Cloudflare, which hosts this site, also runs its Web Analytics script, which counts page views without cookies. There is no advertising pixel. The only cookie is the sign-in cookie, set when you sign in.
Each page also tells the shop's server (run by CarHaulHQ) when it is opened, when a phone number on it is tapped and when a form on it is sent: the page, the words on the tapped link, the website you came from (for example Google), the kind of device (for example iPhone) and a random number your browser keeps only until you close the tab. No IP address, no cookie and no name is stored with it. The shop uses it to see which pages bring calls.
Your account and repair tracking
If you create an account to follow your repair, the sign-in is run by CarHaulHQ, a sister company that runs the shop's computer systems. It keeps your name, your email, your password in scrambled (hashed) form or your Google account if you sign in with Google, and a log of failed sign-ins that is erased after 24 hours. It sends no email and no text when you sign up. Everything is stored on CarHaulHQ's servers in the United States.
The shop links a repair to your account with a one-time code it gives you, or by your email address when Google has confirmed it. You then see that repair's progress, the shop's notes and the photos it took, and you can approve or decline work it recommends. Only you can see them. You can close your account at any time from the account page, and the shop keeps its own repair records.
The repair estimate form
When you ask for an estimate on the estimate page, what you type (name, phone, email, town, vehicle and the problem) and any photos you add are sent to the shop's own repair system and stored there, so the shop can price the job and email you the quote. On the way it passes through Cloudflare, which hosts this site. The shop gets a notification on its phone with your name, your vehicle and the first line of the problem. The quote you get is a private link that only you and the shop have. To stop abuse, the system also notes the internet address the request came from and forgets it after 24 hours. A request you start but never send is deleted after two hours.
Requests and quotes are kept as part of the shop's repair records. To have yours deleted, call (315) 922-9680 or email the address below.
Roadside help
Drivers stopped on the road can send the shop a roadside request from a separate page: their name, mobile number, where they are (the phone's location only if they choose to share it), the vehicle, the problem and up to six photos. It goes through Cloudflare to the shop's dispatch system on CarHaulHQ's servers, so the shop can send help, and it is kept as part of the shop's job records. That page has its own privacy notice with the details.
The service request form
The form on the contact page does not send anything to this website. When you press send, it opens your own email or text application with the details already filled in and addressed to the shop. You press send, from your own account. That means the details go directly to [email protected] or to our phone, you keep a copy in your own sent items, and nothing passes through this site on the way.
What we do with what you send us
Whatever you email, text or tell us on the phone is used to book and carry out your repair, and to reach you about it. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone for their marketing purposes.
Text messages
The shop sends text messages from (315) 922-9680. There are two kinds: repair updates (estimates, repair status, parts and pickup) and, only if you ask for them, offers such as discounts and free inspections.
Repair updates: you agree to get them when you text the shop first, or when you tell us at the counter or on the phone that we may text you about your repair.
Offers: we send them only with your separate, express consent. To get them, text DEALS to (315) 922-9680, or sign the written text opt-in at the counter. Saying yes to repair updates does not sign you up for offers.
Consent to texts is never a condition of buying anything from us. How often we text varies; offers are up to about 4 a month. Msg & data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any text to stop getting them. Reply HELP for help, or call (315) 922-9680. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
